Shared Governanace


Nursing leadership at the MCG Health is committed to the shared governance model for professional nursing practice. The nursing shared governance model allows for decentralized collaborative decision making. This allowance gives the nursing profession the right and responsibility to participate in decisions that affect the provision of clinical care, themselves, and their profession.  For more information please follow this link to "MCG Health Shared Governance: A discussion for implementation."

The key operating principle is accountability. The focus changes from activities to outcomes and from tasks and functions, to results. The Shared Governance Model at MCG Health is made up of the following councils:


The following are a list of dates and times for Council meetings:

  • Professional Practice

    • 3rd Thursday each month-Dogwood Room (8:30-9:30 AM)

  • Clinical Ladder/Peer Review

    • 4th Thursday each month-Dogwood Room (8:30-9:30 AM)

  • Performance Improvement Council

    • 3rd Thursday each month-Dogwood Room (1:00-2:00 PM)

  • Pressure Ulcer Prevention

    • As Scheduled every quarter

  • Education Council

    • 4th Thursday each month-Dogwood Room (9:30-10:30 AM)

  • Special Projects/Community Outreach/Leadership Council

    • 3rd Thursday each month-Dogwood Room (9:30-10:30 AM); room shared with Evidence Based Practice
