New Living Organ Donor Leave Program

AU Medical Center is committed to recruiting, hiring and retaining the best possible staff and is supportive of our employees and our transplant program.  We are also aligned with the Augusta University Strategic Plan and this program correlates directly with the shared principles that inform our decision-making as we grow and change as a health system within the very dynamic educational and health care environments.

The Living Organ Donor Leave Program is a great benefit for employees who donate an organ or marrow.

  • Eligible employees who serve as an organ donor for the purpose of transplantation shall receive Paid Leave of up to thirty (30) consecutive working days in a calendar year.

  • Employees who serve as a bone marrow donor for the purpose of transplantation shall receive Paid Leave of up to seven (7) consecutive working days in a calendar year.

    • Paid Leave is not Paid Time Off (PTO), but rather additional hours the organization will provide as continuing income for the employee based on the event and policy guidelines.
