Collection Guidelines

High concentrations of gadolinium and iodide are known to interfere with most metals tests.  If either of these have been administered, a specimen cannot be collected for 48 hours.

Interpretation

Patients in renal failure invariably have serum aluminum levels >60 ng/mL range.
