Limitations and Contraindications
The immunoassay does not distinguish between autoantibodies and antibodies produced in response to infectious agents or as epiphenomena following thrombosis. For this reason, a single positive test is not sufficient to meet accepted serologic criteria for the diagnosis of APS.
