Limitations and Contraindications
Absence or disappearance of HBeAg or anti-HBe does not rule out chronic hepatitis B carrier state and/or infectivity.
Absence of anti-HBe and presence of HBe antigen indicates persistent hepatitis B virus replication and infectivity. Detectable anti-HBe with disappearance of HBe antigen usually indicates loss of HBV infectivity.
