Collection Guidelines

Collect blood following a 12-14 hour fast.

Limitations and Contraindications

Fasting for <12 hours or intake of alcohol during the 24 hours prior to specimen collection may invalidate test results.

Interpretation

Values <90 mg/dL indicate increased risk for atherosclerotic disease
