Emergency Management Technician
The Georgia Regents University Emergency Management team plans and implements counter-measures for anticipated and potential disasters before they happen and manages and evaluates incidents during and after their occurrence. The tam also provides training in emergency preparedness for GRU employees. The Emergency Management Team works in close associate with other regional hospitals to provide training, equipment, and plans for mitigation of regional disasters.
GRU Emergency Management hosted a class for the treatment of radiation victims during an emergency.
Attendees varied from medical to support staff from GHS and other area hospitals.
To protect Georgia Regents University employees and patients. To coordinate and integrate all activities necessary to build, sustain, and improve the capability to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters. To save lives, protect property, and reduce the effects of disasters. Also, in an atmosphere of total cooperation, to extend this protective focus of activities to assist all healthcare systems encompassed within the regional area.
To create a safer, less vulnerable environment for workers and patients with the capacity to cope in the event of natural origin or man-made disaster. As the regional coordinating hospital, we will assist our partners whenever, and in whatever manner required, to achieve this visor for the region.
